Motherwort's latin name is Leonurus cardiaca, meaning "lion heart." Motherwort is like being wrapped in the earth mother's hug: a plant relative who activates our own inner Mother. Our inner Mother who is always there to nurture and hold us. Soothing. Safety. Her flowers are spikey, and so she is protective for the heart as well.

Motherwort helps us embody courage. I also have noticed that she is one of the first plants to come up in the garden during the spring, and that she is very resilient to frost. Part of her medicine is resiliency during harder times or challenges.

Listen to your intuition when working with flower and gem essences. It is not about the amount of the essence you use at once; it's about consistency of use. In general, it is recommended to add 2-4 drops to water or under the tongue, 1-4x per day. It is helpful to work with them for about two weeks at a time. Notice shifts in consciousness.
